Dunno if Mr. Long actually exists…but I find this to be spot-on…

Food For Thought

  • If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally …you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If the only school curriculum allowed to explain how we got here is evolution, but the government stops a $15 million construction project to keep a rare spider from evolving to extinction … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote who runs the government … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more …you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher’s “cute,” but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested “homes”… You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing and free cell phones … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If the government’s plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.
  • If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more “safe” according to the government … You might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

Yep, I’m pretty sure that’s where I currently live…WTF have they done with my country?

I received an email this morning referencing an event purporting to have happened in Arizona on July 4, 2011. I’m gonna crawl up onmy soapbox for just a minute so y’all bear with me…
Please, folks – doyour due diligence before you forward emails.
Yes, the behavior referenced in the links below pisses meoff immensely – however, it didn’t just happen on 4 July, 2011. Ithappened in July 2010. There are morethan enough things going on out there to keep our Rage-O-Meters pegged withoutrecycling old events with new dates and commentary. (cites: Truthor Fiction and Snopes.com)
Excerptfrom Snopes .comarticle (emphasis mine).
Also, however repugnant many people may find the defacement a U.S.flag to be, it isn’t (as claimed above)an illegal act. U.S. Supreme Courtdecisions (Texas v. Johnson and U.S. v. Eichman) struck down PublicLaw 101-131 (pdf warning) (also known as the Flag Protection Act of1989), which set forth penalties of fines and/or imprisonment for”whoever knowingly mutilates, defaces, physically defiles, burns, maintains on the floor or ground, or tramples upon any flag of the UnitedStates,” ruling that the desecration of a flag is a form of expressiveconduct protected by the First Amendment. (It is sometimes the case, however, that — depending on the circumstances — persons involved in public flagdesecrations may be arrested and charged with ancillary crimes, such astrespassing, disturbing the peace, or inciting a riot).
All that said – here’s what we really should be pissedabout:
  •  Illegal immigrants protesting on American soil. Not from any angle does this make sense – matter of fact, even if there wereactually legal immigrants among themit still doesn’t make any sense
  •  The all-pervasive political correctness doctrinethat has overtaken our country
  • The idiots (Brennan, joined byMarshall, Blackmun, Scalia, Kennedy) that ruled flag desecration to beprotected First Amendment speech. Find another protest method, m’kay?
  • Any talk of amnesty for illegals – millionsof folks came here legally, through the front door as it were. Why shouldour country reward the ones who can’t be bothered to do things the right way?

Okay, that’s enough for now – {pushes soapbox back intocorner, hangs up curmudgeon hat and wanders off in search of his blood pressure medicine…)

“…I realized that these communities that refuse to even learn the rudiments and adopt just a few of the cultural norms of the place to which they emigrated are really colonies.

In the West’s zeal for fairness and multiculturalism, they (we) have allowed colonies, some of which are inimical to our way of life, to be set up under our noses.” -Midwest Chick RTWT here…

Food for thought, indeed.

The Arizona Latino Republican Association will become the first Hispanic organization in the country to actively oppose the Department of Justice’s lawsuit against the state of Arizona’s new immigration law.

Larry Klayman, founder of Freedom Watch, Inc., said he will be joined by ALRA Chairman Jesse Hernandez and members of the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association at an announcement Thursday morning in Phoenix.

ALRA will become the first group of Latino Americans to “put a foot forward legally” in support of S.B. 1070 by filing a motion to intervene against the Justice Department’s lawsuit challenging Arizona’s immigration policy, Klayman said.” – FOXNews.com for more

Have a look at this…

I have never understood why the United States is held to a different standard than the rest of the world. I suppose some of it stems from years gone by when we held ourselves to a higher standard. We were the world leader, the benchmark that every other nation compared themselves to…now we see ourselves free falling to collapse. Would someone in the administration to pull the damn rip cord? Please?

I’m not advocating that we make immigration or visas as difficult as Mexico or countless other countries do – I’d just like to see us enforce what’s already on the books. Who decided “open borders” was the way to go? Hey, Barry – if you are still looking for an ass to kick, the open borders guy(s) would be a great start.

Rustmeister’s Alehouse: Rule of Law City?

Go read this post and the links, and realize that there are still folks with commonsense in government. But first read Rustmeister’s close:

“I doubt you will find any clear-thinking American who is against immigration. After all, this nation was founded by immigrants. But to label the fight against illegal immigration as ‘anti immigrant’ and ‘racist’ is disingenuous and manipulative, and is the true source of the division and hatred surrounding this issue.”

Very interesting read on the heels of D’OhBama’s buddy Calderon denouncing the Arizona immigration law. Perhaps he should look to how Mexico handles its own southern borders? Then he has the audacity to attempt to dictate US policy on firearms. Does he seriously think that it’s United States manufactured NFA weapons that are somehow flowing south to arrive in the hands of the druglords he can’t control?

Mexico is angry? You people want to buy a clue? America is ANGRY. Do I claim to speak for all of America? Not at all – there are plenty of progressive entitlement whores that will sell their souls for a piece of that gub’ment cheese.

But let me tell you something, Skippy. The backbone of America (the working taxpayer) is sick and tired. Sick and tired of entitlements, government giveaways and politicians that talk out of both sides of their mouths and their asses simultaneously. Sick of a constant deluge of illegals crossing our borders. Want to live in what used to be the greatest country in the world? Come here legally and shoulder your part of the load. Be a productive member of society rather than a burden on an already overtaxed infrastructure. Pay your taxes, learn the language – be an Americannot some kind of hyphenated-American.

I stand with Arizona – and the currently unenforced federal immigration law.
